SPAIN/CANCUN

Departure by flight to Cancun. Overnight stay.

day 2

CANCUN/MERIDA

Breakfast. Departure by road to Merida. In the afternoon we will enjoy a panoramic tour of the main streets of the city of Merida, capital of the state of Yucatan founded in 1542 by Francisco de Montejo and known as ‘The White City’, due to the predominance of white limestone that was used as a building material.

MERIDA (JEWELS OF SPLENDOUR)

Breakfast. Departure from the city of Merida towards the Yaxcopoil hacienda, where we will be able to visit its interior. The hacienda has its origins in the encomiendas, which were built at the time of the arrival of the Spaniards; these generally included houses of important architectural value and other smaller buildings focused on farm work, built during the period of splendour of the green gold. We continue to Uxmal, located in a hilly area called Puuc, is the most important city in the area for being a real jewel for its style of smooth friezes and decorated ceilings, highlighting the pyramid of the Soothsayer, the Quadrangle of the Nuns and the Governor's Palace. Afterwards we will visit a cenote, where we will be able to enjoy its crystalline waters, ideal for refreshment. Return to Merida.

MERIDA (CENOTES)

Half board. On this tour we will discover three of the most beautiful cenotes that exist in Yucatan. On this adventure, we will be explained several details that we probably don't know about the cenotes of the crater rim, such as the formation of some of them and the deep relationship that the ancient Mayas had with them. We will enjoy time for swimming and snorkelling in the crystal clear waters of these natural formations that exist nowhere else in Mexico. Lunch. Return to Merida.

MERIDA/CHICHEN ITZA/RIVIERA MAYA

Half board. Today we will visit one of the 7 new wonders, Chichen Itza (mouth of the well of the water sorcerers) was the most important city between the years 900 and 1300 of our era, highlighting the temple of Kukulkan or ‘the Castle’ which, together with the temple of the warriors, the ball game, the astronomical observatory and the complex of the nuns show the great ceremonial character in which the city was managed. Lunch. Continuation to the Riviera Maya.
